BETHANY, W.Va. – Dr. Patrick Sutherland, Bethany College Communication Department Chairperson, has been named a faculty fellow for the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) for 2006. Sutherland will join NATPE for its annual convention in Las Vegas in January.
Sutherland will take a semester long sabbatical starting in January.
"I'm honored by the NATPE designation as a faculty fellow. The fellowship will allow me to begin to actively resume my research in the communication field. With Bethany College's Communication Department recently adding a study emphasis in documentary studies, I'm looking forward to meeting with programming executives and with fellow researchers who study the effects of television programming in society," he said.
Sutherland is an associate professor and joined the Bethany faculty in 1989. Besides his duties as department chair, Sutherland teaches a variety of communication courses and also supervises the College's radio station, WVBC-FM.
