BETHANY, W.Va. -- Jason Brun, a senior Communication major at Bethany College, has received a scholarship from the Bernard H. and Blanche E. Jacobson Foundation.

Brun is the son of Frank and Bev Brun of Main Street, Bethany.

The Bernard H. and Blanche E. Jacobson Foundation of Charleston, W.Va., provided a gift of $10,000 to the West Virginia Independent Colleges and Universities (WVICU). This gift provided $1,000 scholarships to West Virginia private colleges and universities. All scholarships are part of the Circle of Vision Scholarship Program administered by the WVICU.

Scholarship recipients must demonstrate financial need, academic promise, attend a private college or university in West Virginia, reside in West Virginia, and maintain a satisfactory grade-point average throughout the scholarship period.

The Jacobson Foundation has supported the WVICU since 1992 and has contributed to the Circle of Vision Scholarship Program since 1999. The Foundation has provided nearly $100,000 in financial aid and scholarship funding.

The Circle of Vision Scholarship Program has provided nearly $2 million in scholarship funds to more than 1,500 West Virginia college students since its inception in 1997.

The WVICU is a consortium of all independent higher education institutions, including Bethany College, in West Virginia.
