BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College senior Lavel Williams (Toronto, Canada/Winston Churchill) has been named Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Wednesday, Dec.7.
This is the second consecutive year Williams was named Second Team All-Region. He also earned First Team All-PAC following his senior season in which he finished tied for third on the team with three goals and six points. It was his third all-conference award and second straight First Team honor.
Williams, who finished his career with 15 goals and nine assists, helped lead Bethany to a 12-6-1 overall record and an 8-3-1 mark in the PAC this season. The Bison earned a berth in the PAC Tournament, but lost to eventual champion Grove City (Pa.) College in the semifinals.
With Williams leading the way, the Bison defense was phenomenal this season. Bethany posted eight shutouts on the campaign and surrendered just 16 goals, an average of 0.84 per game, which the lowest in the PAC.
An Elementary Education major, Williams is the son of Lance and Velma Williams of Toronto, Canada.
