BETHANY, W.Va. – Dea Merenda, a Bethany College graduate with the Class of 2006, was the recipient of a scholarship from Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. Merenda is a resident of Follansbee, W.Va.
Steptoe & Johnson PLLC partnered with West Virginia Independent Colleges and Universities (WVICU) Circle of Vision Scholarship Program to make a gift of $10,000. One student from each of the nine independent colleges and universities in West Virginia received a scholarship.
The Steptoe & Johnson PLLC scholarships were awarded to students based on both financial need and merit. Recipients must demonstrate high academic potential, be residents of West Virginia and maintain a satisfactory grade-point average throughout the period of scholarship receipt.
Founded in 1951, WVICU promotes the interests of West Virginia independent higher education through scholarship fundraising, collaborative programming, research opportunities and advocacy. The organization has raised over $31 million for its member institutions and continues to distribute 100 percent of all undesignated funds directly to its colleges and universities for scholarship and financial aid support.
The Circle of Vision Scholarship Program has provided more than $2.1 million in scholarship funds to 1,770 West Virginia college students.
