BETHANY, W.Va. – Homecoming weekend is planned Oct. 6-8 on the Bethany College campus. The weekend is packed with a multitude of activities planned for students and returning alumni.
Activities for Homecoming open the morning of Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. with the annual Hugh "Tiger" Joyce Golf Scramble at Highland Springs Golf Course.
Following the golf outing on Friday evening, a reception and dinner will be held to honor those being inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Being inducted as members of the class of 2006 are Steve Lundberg, 1963-Cross Country/Track & Field; Kerry McCann Esq., 1977-Football; Fran Haus, 1978-Basketball/Baseball; Michele Berwinkle Nogales 1985- Field Hockey/Softball; and James Rogerson, 1993- Cross Country/Track & Field.
Also scheduled on Friday evening is the Homecoming Art Reception. The Wes Wagner Retrospective Exhibition is located in Renner Union Art Gallery and features the work of the late Wesley J. Wagner, Associate Professor of Art Emeritus at Bethany College. The show runs from 7-9 p.m. in Renner Union Gallery.
Saturday morning activities will open with the 6th Annual Allison Run/Walk in memory of the late Professor James Allison. The run/walk begins at 9 a.m. at Castleman’s Run Road. Following the run/walk is the Homecoming parade, the crowning of the King and Queen and the introduction of the Athletic Hall of Fame inductees at halftime of the football game. A live concert at the tailgate area will conclude the afternoon events.
Weekend events wrap-up on Sunday with a Homecoming brunch.
