BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College Theatre will kick off their 2006-07 season September 15-16 when they, in association with the Student Activities Council, host the Pittsburgh Irish Classical Theatre’s production of First Love by Samuel Beckett.
The Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre (PICT), founded in 1996, is a Small Professional Theatre affiliated with the Actors’ Equity Association and is a member of the Theatre Communications Group and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Alliance.
First Love is a performance that weaves together Beckett’s mournful and hilarious story about a man’s musing about his youth. The text is read by PICT artistic associate Martin Giles while musician Ben Opie plays the sax and other wind instruments to create an improvised jazz underscore.
The two night event begins at 6 p.m. each night in the outdoor Amphitheater, weather permitting. The production, not intended for small children, will be moved inside to Wailes Theater on the Bethany College campus in case of inclement weather.
Admission for the production is free of charge but donations will be accepted. A reception will follow each production in the Wailes Theatre lobby. For more information please call the box office at (304)829-7124.
