Gerald E. Stebbins Named Dean of Students at Bethany College

BETHANY, W.Va. – Gerald E. “Jerry” Stebbins has been named Dean of Students at Bethany College, according to Dr. Scott D. Miller, President of the College. He will assume the position on July 1.
 
Stebbins is currently Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Washington & Jefferson College, a position he has held since 2001. Previously, he had served as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Interim Director of Career Services, Director of Residence Life and Greek Life, and Residence Area Coordinator/Assistant Director of Student Activities in a career at Washington & Jefferson that dates back to 1992.
 
“Jerry Stebbins brings a wealth of experience in Student Affairs to this important leadership role at Bethany,” said Dr. Darin E. Fields, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty. “With his deep understanding of the integral relationship between the student living and the academic learning experience on a residential liberal arts campus, Jerry will be an essential member of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs at Bethany College.”
 
Stebbins holds a B.S. in Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. in Student Personnel from Slippery Rock University. He has completed studies toward a doctoral degree at the University of Pittsburgh. 
 
He will oversee the Department of Student Life at Bethany, which includes student affairs, residence life, student activities, health and counseling services, and judicial affairs. 
 
Bethany College is a small college of national distinction located on a picturesque and historic 1,300-acre campus in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. Founded in 1840, Bethany is the state’s oldest private college.
