Bethany College Appoints Theaker Department of Education Chair

BETHANY, W.Va. — Bethany College is pleased to announce that Dr. Sherri Theaker, associate professor of education, has been appointed chair of the Department of Education.

Dr. Darin E. Fields, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty, said, "I am very pleased to have Dr. Theaker leading our programs in education. Her expertise and many years of teaching in special education, her experience with NCATE accreditation, her knowledge of issues facing teacher preparation programs, and her clear vision for moving the program forward make her ideally suited to lead our education program." 

Theaker received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction and special education from Ohio University in 2008. She earned her master’s degree in early childhood special education from Youngstown State University in 1996. She also holds a B.S. in human ecology from The Ohio State University.

Theaker has more than 10 years of teaching experience at Ohio University and has served as a consultant to the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and School Readiness.
