Bethany Awards Ten Incoming Students Kalon Leadership Scholarships

Ten future Bethanians will receive the Kalon Leadership Scholarship, an annual $2,500 award based on leadership, character, service and academic performance.

Bethany Student Named HELM Leadership Fellow

Alexi Pyles, a rising second-year student at Bethany College, has been named to the thirteenth class of HELM Leadership Fellows by Higher Education and Leadership Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Pyles, a Psychology major in the Physical Therapy track, is from Los Angeles, Calif.

Ralph Baxter of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP Addresses Bethany College 2013 Graduates

Ralph Baxter, Chairman Emeritus of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, spoke to Bethany College’s 2013 graduating class as part of the institution’s 173rd Anniversary Commencement Weekend. Baxter delivered his remarks, “Times of Change are Times of Opportunity,” to Bethany’s 154 graduates on May 18 outdoors at the Tilock Amphitheatre in the Pennington Quadrangle.

Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr. to keynote Bethany College Baccalaureate

The Reverend Dr. Jack Sullivan, Jr., Regional Minister and President of the Pennsylvania Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), will be the featured speaker for the annual Bethany College Baccalaureate Service to be held Friday, May 17 at 6 p.m. in Commencement Hall.

Bethany Presents Annual Honors Day Awards

Bethany College awarded many of its exemplary students, faculty and staff with a variety of college-wide and departmental awards on April 18 during its annual Honors Day celebrations. The recipients, selected based on their demonstration of outstanding scholarship and other contributions to the College, were presented with their awards during the Honors Day Convocation held in Commencement Hall in Bethany's historic Old Main.

Mollie Cecere Named Bethany College’s New Director of Enrollment

Mollie Cecere has been named to the position of director of enrollment management at Bethany College, according to Dr. Scott D. Miller, President of the College. Until her appointment at Bethany, she served as associate director of admission and recruitment for Point Park University.

Bethany President Elected Chair of the Board of Independent College Enterprise

Bethany College President Dr. Scott D. Miller was elected Wednesday as chair of the board of directors of Charleston-based Independent College Enterprise, a consortium of eight private colleges in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. As chair, he is president of the corporation.

Book Release Party to be Held for Professor Lamson

A release party will be held on the Bethany College campus for Assistant Professor of English, Brandon Lamson’s 2012 Juniper Prize winning collection of poetry “Starship Tahiti” from 4-6 p.m. on April 12 in the academic parlor.
