BETHANY, W.Va. — The Bethany College Department of Communications and Media Arts announces the schedule for its 51st annual Communications Week, themed “User Generated: My Media, My World.” Communications Week will be held Sept. 24-27 on the College campus.
The series of events will feature presentations and workshops from prominent Bethany College alumni and professionals working in a wide variety of positions in communications and media arts. The program is designed to help students better understand the diverse and quickly evolving world of media communications, take advantage of the wide array of potential experiences as undergraduates and move through their undergraduate years and into their professional careers successfully.
“This year’s edition of Communications Week is focused on multimedia production. Multimedia competence is necessary for jobs in this ever-changing industry,” said M.E. Yancosek Gamble, chair of the department of communications and media arts.
A highlight of Communications Week will be the John Keresty Lecture given by Evelyn del Cerro ’85, former evening producer for Peter Jennings, and current program manager for WABC-TV. She oversees several aspects of production for “LIVE! with Kelly.” Although Cerro has been back to her alma mater many times, this will be her first time speaking to the communications department as a Keresty lecturer.
Because of a generous gift from the Driehorst Family Foundation the Keresty lecture will be live-streamed online at client.stretchinternet.com/client/bethanywvadmin.portal#. Many of the events can also be found on BCTV and WVBC Internet at client.stretchinternet.com/client/wvbc.portal#.
