Upcoming Buffalo Seminary Events

 BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College has announced two upcoming events at Buffalo Seminary, a joint ministry of the College and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia.

On Feb. 24, Rev. Dr. Todd Adams will present “Church Leadership: Best Practices” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m at Bethany Memorial Church. Dr. Adams will be leading and teaching on the art of church administration, best understood as pastoral care for the church. Dr. Adams, the Associate General Minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), is regarded as a leading practitioner and teacher in the areas of stewardship.

A two-day workshop, “Exploring Resurrection in the Synoptic Gospels,” will be held March 16 and 17 at the College's Mountainside Conference Center.

The Rev. Bonnie B. Thurston, noted local author, retreat leader, seminary professor and lecturer, will present this workshop in preparation for Easter. The schedule is as follows:

March 16

  • 1-5 p.m.: Preparing to think about resurrection theology/history/literature; What’s good news about Mark 1-8?; Soldiers & Seeing: Matthew 27:62-28:15.
  • 7-8:30 p.m.: The Women as Witnesses; General discussion

March 17

  • 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: The One Who Walks Beside You: Luke 14:13-35; What happened and what does it mean? How will we preach and teach it?
