BETHANY, W.Va. – Alumni of Beta Theta Pi Psi Chapter are giving back to Bethany College in a big way for the second consecutive year in a $1 million fund-raising challenge that kicked off on Giving Tuesday.

Starting Dec. 3 and ending June 30, all donations to the Bethany Fund up to $1 million will be matched 4-to-1. The Betas are sponsoring the first $250,000, while an anonymous donor is offering an additional $750,000.

Bethany alumni and Beta directors Bob Mackenzie, David Cottington, Dean Lesiak, and Scott Thompson are asking all Bethany College alumni to “Join the Challenge, Lead the Charge for Bethany.”

On the first day of the fund-raising challenge, Bethany College saw 46 donations totaling more than $8,300.

“Bethany College has a rich history of producing alumni who innovate solutions to real-world challenges,” said Chris Lambert, vice president of advancement and alumni relations. “Through their community engagement, they positively impact the world around them, and, through partners like Beta Theta Pi, they inspire others to support future generations of Bethanians.”

Donations to the Bethany Fund assist the college in providing scholarships as well as academic and student support.

The Beta Theta Pi Psi Chapter was founded at Bethany College in 1860 with a mission of “Building Men of Principle for a Principled Life.”

According to the fraternity’s website, the Psi Chapter counts more than 900 living alumni.

This year is the second match drive sponsored by the Betas. In 2018, the Betas matched gifts by new donors between March and June up to $250,000.
