BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College will bring women from its student body together with its alumnae community for a series of weekend events designed to celebrate and promote women and leadership.

These events will be held March 1-2 as part of Bethany’s Fifth Annual Ann Wilkin Trombadore Women and Leadership Weekend, which features nationally-recognized speakers and prominent Bethany alumnae.

Students will have the opportunity to network and further their leadership aspirations as this year’s event takes on a new, engaging format.

The Women Leaders Recognition Dinner will kick off the weekend on Friday, March 1, with alumna keynote speaker Kaye G. Hearn ‘72, Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Justice Hearn, who is serving her tenth year in office, is the second woman member in the court’s history. Prior to her election to the state’s highest court, Justice Hearn was a member of the South Carolina Court of Appeals for fifteen years, serving as its Chief Judge for ten years.

Saturday’s activities will open with a workshop exclusively for alumnae and Bethany seniors, entitled, “Pursuing Your Passion and Finding Your Purpose Workshop.” Workshop leader Dr. Peggy Guest, Owner of Aspire Coaching and Consulting, will lead this interactive session about choosing paths that fulfill dreams and ambitions.

All students will then join with alumnae to learn about how leadership can be fun with alumna keynote speaker Kathy Tucker ‘85, Sales Leadership Coach, Trainer, and Speaker for Kathy Tucker Coaching and Consulting.

About Women and Leadership Weekend

The weekend is named in honor and memory of Ann Wilkin Trombadore, one of Bethany’s distinguished alumni and a lifelong passionate mentor of women. Mrs. Trombadore was a native of Wheeling and raised in Wellsburg, West Virginia. She graduated magna cum laude from Bethany with a degree in economics in 1951 and received her law degree from the University of Michigan in 1954. She was an active member of the Bethany College Board of Trustees for more than two decades and was the recipient of the Distinguished Service to Alma Mater award in 1996. She was made an Emeritus Life Trustee following the 1998-99 academic year.

The educational weekend has been made possible by the leadership and generosity of Bethany College Trustee and alumna Scarlett Foster ’79, retired Corporate Officer and Vice President of Investor Relations at the former Monsanto Company.
