BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is announcing the recent promotion of alumnus Deno Emili ’78 as its executive director of alumni engagement and planned giving.

“Deno’s passion for Bethany College and his ability to connect with our alumni is truly inspiring,” says Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Marketing, and Communications Lori Weaver. “His ideas and strategic vision have already enhanced our alumni engagement efforts. Under his new role, he will contribute significantly to our planned giving initiatives. We are confident that under Deno’s leadership, our alumni community will flourish, and we will witness a new era of philanthropy at Bethany College.”

Emili returned to his alma mater in 2022 after a career in commercial real estate. He worked as legal counsel and compliance officer with Fraport USA in Pittsburgh, Pa., and multiple real estate service providers after starting his career in Pittsburgh at General Nutrition Centers, Inc.

“I’m excited about this additional responsibility and the opportunity to serve the Bethany College community on a broader scale,” says Emili. “I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to give back to Bethany every day and look I forward to being able to help my fellow alumni to do the same in an impactful manner with this new role.”

Emili graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bethany, then went on to receive his juris doctorate in general law from the University of Pittsburgh.

He has remained active in the Bethany community, serving as an adviser to the active men of Beta Theta Pi for more than 25 years, and more recently as a patron of the women’s softball team, creating an endowed fund for the program.

Emili went on to note the support that Bethany receives from annual gifts each year is critical, but that legacy gifts comprise a support system the College can count on to help continue its mission for generations to come.
