August 11 – BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Abigail Hoard as the new assistant athletic trainer.
Hoard, who is a board certified athletic trainer, is also registered and licensed as an orthopedic technologist, as well as being certified in CPR/AED through the Red Cross.
Prior to Bethany, Hoard served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Lock Haven University where she was responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation duties of the football, women’s lacrosse and women’s swimming teams. She also spent one year at Chowan University as the assistant athletic trainer, where she oversaw football, soccer, basketball, tennis, women’s lacrosse and cheerleading.
As an undergraduate student at Mars Hill College, Hoard served as a student athletic trainer for four years, and worked with 13 of the Lions’ sports programs. She also gained experience through surgical rotations, assisting with rehabilitation classes, and upper evaluation classes. Hoard was a women’s soccer student-athlete at Mars Hill and served as the team’s captain during the 2011-12 campaign.
During her time at MHC, Hoard was actively involved in community service projects in association with the team as well as the Athletic Training Student Club. She was twice named the Athletic Training Student of the Year at Mars Hill, while also earning an athletic training student scholarship during her undergraduate career.
A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Hoard received her Master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in 2013.
