Sept. 16 – BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced that seniors Eric Blinn and Julia Mouch have been named the Bethany SAAC Student-Athletes of the Week.
Blinn (Beaver, Pa./Western Beaver) and the Bison offense found their groove in a 51-16 win over Thiel. The senior totaled 12 receptions for 185 yards and thee receiving touchdowns. Blinn also added a touchdown on the ground en route to 190 offensive yards in the game.
Blinn expanded on an already monumental career as he set a new Presidents’ Athletic Conference record and broke a Bethany career mark. The standout wide receiver shattered the PAC record for receiving yards in a career (3,328), as well as set a new Bethany career record for receiving touchdowns (26), passing Matt Cruise for first all time.
Mouch (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) was instrumental in the Bison volleyball squad’s success this week. The senior outside hitter was named to the Penn State Behrend Invitational All-Tournament team while helping the Green & White to a 4-1 record in the span of a week.
In those five matches, Mouch totaled 32 kills and 90 digs. She tallied her third double-double of the season with 10 kills and 22 digs against Defiance College. Mouch led the Bison to wins over Penn State Behrend (3-0), Defiance (3-1), Frostburg State (3-1) and D'Youville (3-0).
Other SAAC Athlete of the Week nominees included football player Daniel Gibson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills), cross country runner Jordan Castro (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua), and soccer captain Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) for the men. For the women, junior Brittany Fullbright (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth), freshman tennis player Pia Hager (Stuttgart, Germany), and Bison cross country runner Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) all received nominations.
