Dec. 8 – BETHANY, W. Va. – Sophomore swimmer Cody Hussey (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and sophomore guard Hayley Holenka (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) have been named the Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Athletes of the Month for November, announced the Bethany SAAC on Monday.
Hussey helped the Bison to a 5-1 dual-meet record in the month of November, touching first in seven-of-ten individual swims. The sophomore distance swimmer finished no lower than second place in any of his distance swims in the month, and posted two first-place finishes in the 500 meter freestyle, one in the 1,000 meter freestyle and also won his only swim in the 1,650 free. Along with those victories, Hussey also took first in the 100 & 200 backstrokes one time each. Hussey was also a member of the two winning freestyle relays, as he helped the Bison capture a 200 relay win in a conference meet with Westminster, and swam the second leg of the 400 relay team that touched first against Galluadet University.
Holenka had quite a performance last month. In just her first year with the program, Holenka is ranked first in the President’s Athletic Conference in 3-point makes (16) and sixth in scoring (15.7). Over five games during the month of November, Holenka scored in double figures four times, including a 20-point outburst in a win over Mount St. Joseph.
