Dec. 10 – BETHANY, W. Va. – Bethany College senior Kevin Jackson (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook) and sophomore Gabrielle Naples (Salem, Ohio/South Range) have been named the Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Athletes of the Week, the Bethany SAAC announced on Tuesday.
Jackson helped the Bison men's basketball team to two wins against conference opponents last week. He notched a team-high 15 points in a 68-65 win over Waynesburg University on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Along with the 15 points, he notched his first double-double of the season, recording 11 boards. In the team's second victory, a 63-61 decision over Grove City, Jackson totaled 18 points, which included a season-high four three-point field goals.
Jackson currently ranks second on the team in points per game (15.0) but leads the team in points per contest against conference opponents (16.5). His .462 field goal percentage also leads the team.
Naples helped the women's basketball team to a 1-1 record against PAC opponents last week. She averaged 12.5 points per game during the week, including a career-high 18 points in a 56-46 win over Grove City. Naples currently ranks third on the team in points per game, averaging 9.6 per contest over the first five games of the season.
Other nominees for athletes of the week included swimming & diving athletes Jake Collas (South Park, Pa./South Park) on the men’s side and Marina Baker (Winchester, Va./Sherando) for the women.
