Dec. 3 - BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced that senior guard Delonte’ Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and freshmen forward Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) have been named the Bison SAAC Athletes of the Week.
Joyce once again proved to be the driving force for the Bison as he averaged 21 points per game as the Bison posted a 2-1 record last week. Joyce started off the week by scoring a career-high 34 points against Muskingum University, which included going 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. In the 20-point win, Joyce also recorded nine of the team's season-best 17 steals. Besides averaging over 20 points per game during the week, the senior leader added five rebounds and five steals per contest. Joyce has now registered 20+ points in four of the six contests this season.
Daugherty had a breakout performance in Bethany's 78-67 loss against Marietta College last week. Daugherty finished the game recording her first career double-double, notching career-high's in points (19) and rebounds (11). She also showed off her defensive ability, swiping four steals and blocking a shot.
Others nominated for the award included sophomore guard Hayley Holenka (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) and senior guard Jeff Joynes (Baltimore, Md./Poly).
