June 30 - WEXFORD, Pa. –The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its Spring PAC Academic Honor Roll recently and 22 student-athletes from Bethany College were among those recognized.

In all, 327 student-athletes from league schools were named to the honor roll, which recognizes those on winter and spring varsity athletic teams who earned a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the semester of their competition. Counting the 314 honorees on the fall academic honor roll, the PAC recognized 641 student-athletes during the 2009-10 academic year, a six-percent increase from the 2008-09 total of 606. Westminster led the conference with 53 honorees on the list.

Bethany also saw a significant increase of student-athletes on the Honor Roll during the 2009-10 year. Combined with the 35 student-athletes who made the list in the fall, 57 Bison were lauded this year for their academic efforts, up seven from last season (50). It’s also the highest total of BC student-athletes who earned a spot on the Honor Roll since 2005-06 when 60 Bethany student-athletes were recognized.

The accomplishments by the Bison contingent on the list is made even more impressive by the fact that 59 percent (13 of the 22) earned higher than a 3.9 during the semester, which included eight perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Pacing the way for the Bethany programs during the spring was the baseball and women’s swimming teams with four each, while the BC men’s and women’s track and field programs both had three members of their programs make the list.
