Parker/Levine Selected Bethany SAAC Athletes of the Week

Sept. 29 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced that sophomore men’s soccer player Cody Levine (Washington, Pa./Bentworth) and freshman volleyball libero Reilly Parker (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) have been named the Bison SAAV Athletes of the Week.

Parker earned the nod after helping the Bethany volleyball team to a 6-0 record last week. In six matches, the Green & White posted an 18-0 advantage in set wins. Parker helped anchor a defensive effort that limited their opponents to a .027 hitting percentage. Bethany captured five wins over conference opponents in the week, including twice over Waynesburg while also beating Thiel, Westminster and Grove City.

During the week, Parker totaled a team-high 95 digs and 18 service aces. One of the top servers on the Bethany roster, Parker tallied a gaudy 3.0 aces per match while posting double-digit digs in every game. She twice went over the 20-dig mark, including a high-water mark of 23 in a three-set sweep of Westminster.

Overall on the season, Parker currently ranks first in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference in digs per set (5.87) while also leading the PAC in both digs (358) and service aces (38). Additionally, Parker is 13th in all of Division III in total digs, and ranks 17th in aces.

Levine made the most of limited minutes for the Bison men’s soccer team as the Green & White posted a 2-0 record against non-conference opponents last week. Levine helped the Bison to a 12-0 win over Penn State – New Kensington, before notching the game-winning goal in overtime against Muskingum.

In the victory over New Kensington, Levine tallied his first-career hat trick, scoring three goals on six total shots. He then followed that performance by putting two shots on goal and netting the game winner in just five minutes of playing time in the team’s 3-2 victory over the Muskies.

Overall, Levine saw the field for just 19 minutes in the week, but made the most of every second, posting eight total shots (six on goal) while scoring four times. With his number, he now ranks tied for second on the team in total points (eight).

Other nominees for SAAC Athletes of the Week include football players Donavan Hayden (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) and Tyler Ambush (Germantown, Md./Northwest) for the men and senior field hockey player Courtney Gill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands Regional), junior volleyball outside hitter Dylana McKenzie (Hopewell, Ohio/West Muskingum) and sophomore soccer goalie Taylor Sasak (Berea, Ohio/Berea) for the women.
