Nov. 11 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced that senior swimmer Marina Baker (Winchester, Va./Sherando) and sophomore swimmer Cody Hussey (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) and have been named the men’s and women’s Bison SAAC Athletes of the Week.
Baker was the top swimmer for the Green & White as she placed first in all three of her individual swims in a quad-match last Saturday. In her victory in the 50 freestyle, Baker captured the Bethany record, finishing with a time of 25.14, .04 seconds better than her previous school mark of 25.18 which she set last season. She also added first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (55.72) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.70).
Hussey was also impressive at the quad meet last Saturday, as he continued the hot start to his season capturing the 500 meter freestyle with a time of 5:10.89. He also notched a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:45.73).
Others considered for the award on the women’s side was volleyball standout Dylana McKenzie (Hopewell, Ohio /West Muskingum), while on the men’s side was junior driver Brandon Martell (Sharon, Pa./Sharon).
