Emil F. Dupke
Class of 1932
During his time at Bethany, Emil F. Dupke played football and basketball for the Bison. He earned several honors in football, including All-Tri State and All-West Virginia selections, and captained the grid squad in 1931, his senior year.
After his graduation, Dupke joined the faculty of Triadelphia (W.Va.) High School in 1935 as and English teacher and, in 1943, took on the duties of the school's football coach. Dupke went on to lead the team to city and OVAC championships in 1947, 1948, and 1949. He also coached the 1949 and 1950 North teams in the annual North-South games at Charleston, W.Va.
Dupke left Triadelphia in 1950 for Washington (Pa.) High School where he coached and taught for nine years. In 1953 he coached the Western Pennsylvania All Stars and in 1955 was named Washington County Coach of the Year.
Dupke was named principal of Washington High in 1959 and, 10 years later, became the administrative assistant to the superintendent. He served in that capacity until 1975.
