Enid Cobb-Baines
Track & Field, Volleyball
Class of 1989 

Cobb-Baines was a four-year letterwinner in track and three-time honoree in volleyball during her time at Bethany. She was captain of the track team in 1988 and 1989 and earned All-Conference recognition during all four of her years. Cobb-Baines set the Bethany record in the high jump in 1986 by clearing five feet, four inches, a record she still holds today.

Cobb-Baines was just as accomplished in the classroom, as she was an Academic All-American and received the prestigious NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship award. As a senior, she won the Senior English Award in 1989.

Following her graduation from Bethany with a degree in English, Cobb-Baines spent two years teaching at Columbus State Community College. Sandwiched between those years in 1992-93 was a year that she spent teaching English in Taipei, Taiwan. Currently, Cobb-Baines is an English teacher at Carmel High School, where she’s been since 1995.

Cobb-Baines, who graduated from Brooke High School and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002, currently lives in Indianapolis, Ind., with her husband, Glen, and their two children, Sydney and Benjamin.
