Class of 1966
Robert Solar, a member of the Class of 1966 and Beta Theta Pi fraternity, earned four varsity letters on both the baseball and football teams during his collegiate career.
A captain of the football and baseball teams his senior year, Solar helped the Bison football squad win its first PAC title. Solar also led the baseball team to success, as the team captured its first ever league championship in 1965.
An All-PAC honoree in both baseball and football during his senior campaign, Solar was voted the Most Valuable Football Player and the Outstanding Senior Athlete. He was also an honoree in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
Upon obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in History/Education, Solar went on to teach and coach at Union Local High School in Morristown, Ohio. Later, he became the guidance counselor, head baseball coach, and assitant basketball coach at Buckeye North High School in Brilliant, Ohio. He and his wife, Nancy, reside in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
