April 28 - BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany baseball team suffered a 15-1 setback to visiting LaRoche Tuesday afternoon at Bethany Park in the front end of a non-conference doubleheader.

There was no back end of the twinbill, as rain forced the game to be postponed in the top of the first inning.

The Redhawks (14-20) jumped in front with two runs in each of the first three innings. In the bottom of the third, BC (3-29) plated their run with two outs. Sophomore CF Tyler Dillinger (McKeesport, Pa.) walked, moved to second on a balk and following another walk, came home on an RBI single from freshman 3B Anthony Packer (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley Regional).

The rest of the game’s scoring was tallied by LaRoche, as they pulled away for the win.

Bethany finished the game with six hits overall. In addition to Packer’s single, sophomore 2B Eric Fudala (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) doubled and Dillinger, freshman 1B Nate Tieman (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby), freshman SS Chad Stephen (Barnesville, Ohio) and junior LF Mark Cummins (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) all recorded singles.

No decision has been reached as to whether the second game will be made up. The Bison will return to the diamond Thursday with a twi-night doubleheader at Franciscan (Ohio) University, which is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Steubenville.
