April 25 - ERIE, Pa. – Although sophomore CF Tyler Dillinger (McKeesport, Pa.) went 3-for-5 and scored twice, the Bethany baseball team was done in by Penn State Behrend scoring six runs or more in three different innings in a 28-5 Lions’ win.
The Bison scored twice in the first inning and once more in the second to sit in a 3-3 tie with Behrend (27-7) after two innings. The Lions’ explosion began in the third inning with six tallies and they would continue to pull away for the triumph.
Bethany’s top two hitters in the line-up were extremely busy, as they combined to reach base nine times. Dillinger posted his fifth three-hit game of the season, as he went 3-for-5, including a triple, and also walked once. He also knocked in one and crossed the plate twice. Behind him in the line-up was freshman 1B Nate Tieman (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby), who cracked two singles, drew three walks, had one RBI and scored once.
On Sunday, the Bison will continue a weekend trip north, as they face Fredonia State (N.Y.) in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
