BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College men’s and women’s cross country teams and four other conference schools got a first-hand look at the same course that will be the site of the 2012 PAC Cross Country Championships when the Bethany Bison Invitational was held Saturday.
The Bison finished sixth out of seven teams on the women’s side, while a couple injuries prevented the BC men from scoring as a complete team. Grove City was the team winner in both the men’s and women’s race, while individual race winners were Jenny Brewer from Alderson-Broaddus and Aaron Sutton from Westminster.
The top runner for Bethany was freshman Ryan Donnelly (pictured - Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills). He broke the tape in eight place overall out of 60 runners with a time of 28:22. Next to finish for the Green and White was freshman Brenton Nutter (Zanesville, Ohio), who came in 27th place (29:45), and he was followed by sophomore Cody McDonald (Martinsburg, W.Va./Mussleman) in 31st place (29:58).
For the Bethany women, freshman Brooke Bosworth (St. Clairsville, Ohio) was the team’s top finisher. She came in 24th place out of 77 runners, as she ran across the finish line in 26:02. Next in for the Bison was sophomore Jessica Olson (Moon, Pa.) in 34th place (26:25).
Rounding out the Bethany squad on Saturday was junior Heather Hamm (Milton, Vt./BFA Fairfax), who was 52nd, junior Chelesi White (Elkins, W.Va.), who placed 55th, freshman Gabri Bonazzo (Gassaway, W.Va./Braxton), who took 57th, senior Katrina Miller (Avella, Pa.) and sophomore Rebekah Hudock (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands).
The Bison will take next Saturday off before returning to the trails Oct. 13th at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. The women’s race will begin at 11 a.m. and the men’s will start at 11:45.
