August 17 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Bethany College men’s and women’s cross country programs were both selected ninth in their respective 2015 PAC Preseason Coaches polls, announced the conference office on Monday afternoon.
The Bison men, who ran to an eighth-place finish at the PAC Championships one year ago, garnered 29 points for their selection. Saint Vincent College was selected as the overall favorite on the men’s side, pulling in 98 points and eight first place votes. Grove City finished in second with one first place vote and 90 points. The other first-place vote went to Washington & Jefferson, who was picked fourth (57 points).
On the women’s side, the Bison posted 32 points following an eighth-place finish at the conference championships last season. The unanimous preseason favorite on the women’s side was Grove City College as they pulled in all 10 first-place votes and 100 points. Waynesburg University (90 points) was second, followed by Saint Vincent College in third (67 points).
Along with the coaches’ poll, a list of runners to watch was released. For the men’s side, junior Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) and freshman Jordan Castro (Newport News, Va./Woodstock) were named as runners to watch while the women saw seniors Brooke Bosworth (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) and Kelsea Martz (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) as well as junior Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) named to the list.
Both the men and the women will open their 2015 campaign on Tuesday, September 1 when the travel to New Concord, Ohio to compete in the Muskingum Relays. The race is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
