Oct. 25 – LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gearing up for the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships, which sits just one week away, the Bethany College men’s and women’s cross country programs competed at the Lock Haven University Go-Fast River Run on Saturday afternoon.
In a meet that featured 19 schools from NCAA Division-II and Division-III, as well as a field of 191 runners, Jessica Olson (Moon, Pa./Moon) helped the Bison women’s team to a 13th-place finish. Olson finished in 56th with a total time of 24:30.00 in the 6k-race. Senior Rhianna Petrone (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan)finished 71st in the race, posting a time of 25:01.45. Sophomore Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) also finished in the top half for the Bison, taking home an 81st-place finish with a 25:18.25.
Junior Kelsey Martz (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) and sophomore Ashley Worst (Cuba, N.Y./Apollo-Ridge) rounded out the top five for the Green & White. Martz finished with a time of 25:50.40, while Worst crossed the finish line with a 27:26.43.
On the men’s side, sophomore Dylan Martinez (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua ) led the way, posting a time of 29:59.28 in the 8k event. Other top finishers for the Bison included freshmen Austin Davis (Honolulu, Hawaii/Moanalua) and Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch). Davis notched a time of 30:14.43, while Bierhals finished with a 31:15.66.
The Bison men and women will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1 as Bethany will host the PAC Championships. The competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
