Sept. 19 – Latrobe, Pa. - The Bethany College Cross Country teams competed in the annual Saint Vincent College Invitational in Latrobe, Pa. on Saturday morning. The men’s team finished in 10th, and the women tallied a 14th place finish.
Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) led the runners on the men’ side, placing eighth overall with a time of 27:34. Freshman Jordan Castro (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) had another strong outing, finishing 27th overall with a final time of 28:21. Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) and Austin Davis (Honolulu, Hawaii/Moanalua) crossed the finish line at almost the exact time, with Bierhals done in 30:42.9 and Davis in 30:43.8.
The Bison women’s team was led by Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) and Kelsea Martz (Hedgesville, W. Va./Hedgesville). The runners placed 57th and 58th, respectively. Ross finished the race in 21:57.0 while Martz was close behind at 21:59.2. Elizabeth Timas (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) finished in 22:14.9, good for 64th place.
For the men, Saint Vincent College took first with a team score of 59 and had runners place second and third overall. Daniel Christiansen from Grove City finished first, running the race in 26:40.4.
The University of Pittsburgh finished first overall on the women’s side, placing five runners in the top-10 and finishing with a team score of 33. Seton Hill’s Chelsia Poole, however, was the first woman to cross the finish line with a time of 18:46.3.
The Bison Cross Country teams will be back in action on Saturday, October 10 at the Slippery Rock Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
