Nov. 12 - CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Senior Joanna Mongelluzzo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) completed a stellar final season by earning All-Region at the NCAA MidEast Regional, which was hosted by DeSales (Pa.) University Saturday.

Led by Mongelluzzo, the Bison finished 32nd out of 47 teams. Bethany’s men only had three competitors and did not score as a team.

Mongelluzzo came in with a big pack of runners, as eight runners finished between 23:55 and 24:00. A strong finish by the BC senior allowed her to edge out Lara Shegoski from Johns Hopkins for 30th place out of 335 runners with a time of 23:58 to earn All-Region distinction.

Freshman Jessica Olson (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) posted another strong outing as well, as her time of 25:31 was good for 100th place overall. The next two Bison to cross the finish line at the Regional meet was freshman Rhianna Petrone (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), who finished in 27:44 for 223rd place and sophomore Heather Hamm (Fairfax, Vt./BFA Fairfax) in 232nd place with a time of 27:52.

Rounding out the Bethany contingent was senior Kaitlyn Black (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and sophomore Emily King (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Washington).

For Bethany’s men, sophomore Cory Yarrington (Berkeley Springs, W.Va.) was the first Bison to finish. He recorded a time of 28:08 to finish 111th overall out of 328 runners.

Also competing for the Green and White on Saturday was freshman Bobby Striker (Hinton, W.Va./Oak Hill) and senior Joe Douglas (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park).
