Feb. 23 – NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Bethany College women’s cross country team, as well as men’s cross country runner Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), have both recently been honored with academic awards by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association, announced the USTFCCCA.
The women’s program earned the honor of being given a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, which is given to any program that achieves a 3.1 GPA or higher. The Bison women were one of 207 schools throughout the Nation to be given the distinction, as the Green & White finished the 2015 Fall Semester with a combined grade-point average of 3.4.
Donnelly, who raced to Second-Team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honors during the 2015 fall season, also earned an academic award from the USTFCCCA, garnering all-academic status.
To qualify to be named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic teams, an individual must finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional, as well as hold a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.
Donnelly, who was one of just six male athletes from the PAC to earn the award, qualified in the classroom, while also earning an 86th-place finish out of 371 runners at the NCAA Mideast Regional.
