Bison Men Win Bobcat Invitational/Women 3rd

Oct. 5 – BETHANY, W. Va. – Ryan Donnelly won his second meet of the season as the Bethany Cross Country team won their first event of the season, while the women placed third, at the Pitt-Greensburg Greensburg Bobcat Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The men’s team took home the team victory as the Bison finished with 35 total points, nine points ahead of second place, Point Park, and 33 points ahead of third place, Pitt-Greensburg. Donnelly took the overall first place time, posting a finishing result of 17:34.2.

“Ryan ran a really smart race today,” said head coach Michael Guinn. “His maturity level and his work ethic have been through the roof this year.”

It was not just Donnelly who had a great day as Dylan Martinez (5th with a time of 18:53.0), Wesley Scott (9th-19:09.5), Cody McDonald (11th-19:22.3), and Hunter Ankrom (13th-19:36.9) all finished in the top 15.

“We went into the race after a couple week break, feeling really great and feeling like we had the best chance to win. We ran a really smart race, and everyone showed up, not just the top couple of guys.”

On the women’s side, the Bison finished in third place with 90 total points. Brooke Bosworth finished in 12th place (23:39.0) for the Bison’s top time. Alexis Pyles (17th-24:34.3), Emily King (21st-25:31.5), and Kelsea Martz (22nd – 25:43.6) rounded out the top five for the Bison.

On the women’s side, Point Park University took the overall top finish with 25 points, and individually, Hanka Jiraskova was the winner of the day with a total time of 21:11.1.

The Bison will be back in action on October 19 at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble before competing in the PAC Championships host by Chatham University on November 2.
