Oct. 3 - SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Bethany men’s and women’s cross country teams ran in their third meet of the season Saturday by competing at the Slippery Rock Invitational Saturday.

Paced by strong efforts from freshman Erin Reske (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) and senior Maggie McCort (Fort Ashby, W.Va./Frankfort), the Bison women finished in eighth place as a team, while BC’s men had only two competitors and did not score as a team.

Reske was the top runner for Bethany for the third meet in a row. She crossed the finish line in 27th place overall, but was third among Division III runners at a meet featuring numerous DII schools. Reske finished in a time of 25:39.9 to edge Emily Fogel from the Penn State Club team and Cherie Jackson from Division II Mercyhurst.

Another good performance was turned in by McCort, whose time of 26:23.4 placed her 43rd overall out of 133 runners.

Completing Bethany’s list of competitors Saturday was senior Alissa Moss (Meadow Lands, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) in 74th place, senior Jodi Bodo (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville Catholic Central) in 81st and freshman Emily Andrews (Abescon, N.J./Holy Spirit) in 93rd.

The Bison’s two male runners included senior Patrick Miller (Canonsburg, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) and freshman Josh Wentz (Philippi, W.Va./Philip Barbour).
Bethany is off next weekend and then will compete at the Wilmington (Ohio) College Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 16. It will be the final tune-up for BC prior to the Oct. 31 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Meet at Saint Vincent.
