Oct. 15 - OBERLIN, Ohio – Bethany College junior Joanna Mongelluzzo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) finished 33rd out of 285 runners to highlight the day’s efforts from the Bison cross country teams at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday.

As a team, BC’s women finished 27th out of 33 teams at the meet, while the Bison men only competed as individuals.

The story of the day was Mongelluzzo, who set a personal record in addition to scoring well. She came in with a pack of runners and her time of 23:23.8 was a PR by 45 seconds and just a second away from placing 30th.

Also finishing in the top half of the results for Bethany was freshman Jessica Olson (Moon, Pa.), who placed 125th place with a time of 25:08.1. Freshman Rhianne Petrone (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) was the next Bison to finish by taking 182nd (26:14.7).

The Bison had three others racing on Saturday, including sophomore Heather Hamm (Fairfax, Vt./BFA Fairfax), senior Kaitlyn Black (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and junior Melissa Davis (Lancaster, Ohio).

For the men, sophomore Cory Yarrington (Berkeley Springs, W.Va) was the top runner for the Green and White. He finished in 100th place out of 315 runners by crossing the finish line in 27:34.5. The only other Bison runner to take to the course Saturday was senior Joe Douglas (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park).

The meet was the final one for the Bison before the 2011 PAC Championships, which will be Oct. 29 at Westminster College.
