BISON TURN IN SOLID EFFORTS AT WAYNESBURG INVITATIONAL
Sept. 11 - WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Bethany College cross country teams participated in their second race of the season Saturday at the Waynesburg Invitational, where the men finished in ninth place out of 10 teams and the women took 10th out of 12 teams.
Earning top honors for the Bison men was freshman Cory Yarrington (Berkeley Springs, W.Va.), who crossed in 18th place overall out of 112 runners with a time of 27:45.9. Another freshman would be the second Bison to finish the course when Hunter Ankrom (Moundsville, W.Va./John Marshall) was 44th overall with a time of 30:13.4 and junior Joe Douglas (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) placed 51st with a time of 30:53.9.
The BC women were led for the second straight week by senior Joanna Mongelluzzo (Washington, Pa./Trinity), whose time of 25:13.5 was good for 20th place at the Invitational. Senior Desiree Finley (Nanticoke, Pa./Hanover Area) also placed in the top half of the results by taking 49th place (27:50.7).
Bethany will take next week off before being back on the course Sept. 25 when they run at the Pre-NCAA Mid-East Regional Meet, hosted by Carnegie Mellon at Coopers Lake. The men will run first at 10:30 p.m. and the women’s race will go off at 11:30 a.m.
