September, 14 - Philippi, W. Va. – The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Seaton Invitational hosted by Alderson-Broaddus University on Saturday afternoon. The men finished fifth while the women came away with a sixth place finish.
The men finished in fifth place with 118 points, just one point behind Alderson-Broaddus. Cory Yarrington (Berkeley Springs, W. Va./Berkeley Springs) paced the Bison with an 11th place finish (30:13.40) while Dylan Martinez (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua) came in with a time of 32:07.60 (27th place).
On the women’s side, the Bison finished in sixth with a total 125 points. Rihanna Petrone (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-MacMillan) paced Bethany with a time of 24:09.20 (27th place), while Ashley Worst Cuba, N.Y./Apollo-Ridge) (24:56.20) and Brooke Bosworth (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) (24:57.30) finished 33rd and 34th respectively.
West Virginia Wesleyan took the overall team award for both the men and the women. The men finished with 24 points while the women finished with 20 points on the day. Individual winners included Hlynur Andresson for the men (27:44.60) running unattached; and Jenny Brewer (20:27.90) from Alderson-Broaddus.
The Bison will return to action on Saturday October fifth when they will participate in the Pitt-Greensburg Invitational. The day’s events begin at 9:30 a.m.
