Oct. 26 – BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College field hockey team suffered a 4-1 loss against visiting Earlham College on Sunday afternoon.
The Quakers controlled the first half, netting two goals en route to a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Bethany would show promise in the second frame, as freshman Erin Cunningham (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) scored in the 46th minute to trim the Earlham lead to just one (2-1).
That would be as close as the Bison would get, however, as the Quakers pulled away with two goals in the next twenty minutes to defeat Bethany, 4-1.
Offensively, Bethany was led by Cunningham and junior Taylor Solomon (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton). Cunningham scored the only Bison goal on three shots. Solomon tallied a team-high six shots, with two coming between the pipes.
Junior goalkeeper Courtney Snyder (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) played all 70 minutes in frame, collecting four saves on 10 Quaker shot attempts.
With the match, Bethany concludes its portion of home matches for the year. They will play next on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Washington & Jefferson for a 7:00 p.m. battle
