Sept. 13 – BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College field hockey team fell to visiting Eastern Mennonite University, 2-1, at Bison Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Bison took the early 1-0 lead in the 12th minute as freshman Morgan Turner (Frederick, Md./Frederick) scored her first goal of the season.
The Royals would respond, scoring goals in the 18th and 30th minutes to take a 2-1 advantage. The score would remain the same heading into intermission.
The second half saw Bethany have opportunities but were unable to capitalize, eventually falling by the same count.
Offensively, Bethany was led by Turner, junior Taylor Solomon (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) and sophomore Latisha Cuffee (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run). Turner scored the lone Bison goal, while Solomon and Cuffee each registered five shots.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tiffany McCary (Hanover Township, Pa./Hanover) notched nine saves in 90 minutes of action.
The Bison will play next on Sept. 20, as they travel to Sweet Briar to take on the Vixens in a non-conference contest. Game time for the match is slated for 1:00 p.m.
