Sept. 21- BETHANY, W.Va.- The Bethany College field hockey team (0-4) fell, 8-0, to Ohio Wesleyan (3-4) on Saturday evening at Bison Stadium.
Karson Stevenson earned the victory for the Battling Bishops, as she made three saves to record her third victory of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Jacqueline Harrison (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) got the start in net for the Bison and made eleven saves on the evening.
Sophomore forward Taylor Solomon (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) had a team-high two shots for the Bison.
Jenna Ortega put OWU on the board at the 4:08 mark of the first half, as she received a pass from Venessa Menerey off the corner and Ortega shot it in the goal.
Cheyenne Gibbons took a pass from Montana Knapp and shot it through the pads of Harrison to give the Battling Bishops a 2-0 lead at the 12:37 mark.
Sadie Slager, Claire Argenta and Knapp each added additional first half goals, as OWU would take a 5-0 lead into the locker room.
Three minutes into the second half, sophomore Courtney Gill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./
Pinelands Regional) put a great shot on net, but Stevenson made a great save for the Battling Bishops.
Knapp and Slager both added goals in the second half, as OWU went on for the 8-0 victory.
Bethany returns to action next weekend as they take to the road for a two- game road trip. The Bison will play at Goucher on Saturday and at Notre Dame (Md.) on Sunday.
