Bison Stumble on Road Against Wittenberg

August 31 – SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Bethany College field hockey team (0-2) was defeated, 3-0, by Wittenberg University on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts would take a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute of the first period. The score would remain the same heading into intermission.

The second stanza saw Wittenberg tack on two more goals, defeating the Green & White, 3-0.

Offensively, the Bison were led by sophomore Latisha Cuffee (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run) and junior Taylor Solomon (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton). Cuffee recorded a team-high three shots, including one on goal. Solomon added a shot for the Bison.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tiffany McCary (Hanover Township, Pa./Hanover) gave her best effort protecting the net, as she tallied 18 saves on 37 total shots.

The Bison will be back in action on Tuesday, September 2, when they play host to Washington & Jefferson. The match is slated to start at 8:00 p.m.
