The 5-11, 190-pound wide receiver/punt returner did something in Saturday’s 35-14 victory over Thomas More (Ky.) College that no Bethany player had done in nearly 30 years. With BC leading 14-0 midway through the second quarter, Dahle took a punt and went 62 yards for a touchdown to become the first Bison since Kurt Richardson in 1980 to take a punt back for a score.
In addition to the punt return, Dahle also caught two passes, including a 13-yard reception in the fourth quarter to move the chains on a third down. It helped BC control the ball for the final 10:40 of the game and secure their second consecutive win of the season and over Thomas More.
”We are excited for Matthew,” said Bison head coach Tim Weaver. “He had a couple rough games early on and dropped back on the depth chart. But he kept practicing and playing hard and when he got another opportunity, he took advantage and made a big play.”
An English education major, Matthew is the son of Mary Ann Dahle of McKees Rocks, Pa.
