Dec. 10 - BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany junior TE Jorge Laboy (New York, N.Y./Central Park East) has been selected All-South Region by the national website D3Football.com.
The Third Team All-Region award is added to the First Team All-PAC laurel Laboy picked up following a stellar junior season. The 6-4, 250-pound tight end tied for the team-lead in receptions with 43, which went for 433 yards and three touchdowns. He had six or more catches in four games, highlighted by his performance against Thiel Oct. 11 when he hauled in eight balls for 135 yards and tied the school’s single-game record with two touchdown receptions.
The All-Region award is the first by a Bison player since LB Tim Goetz was a First Team selection in 2005.
“Jorge has made incredible progress since he got here as a freshman,” said Bison head coach Tim Weaver. “His hard work on the field and in the weight room has made him one of the guys we can really count on offensively to make plays. We’re proud of his accomplishments this year, and we’re happy for him to be recognized at this level. Jorge realizes that the bar for him is raised now, and our expectations will be even higher for him.”
A communication major, Jorge is the son of Margarita Murillo of New York, N.Y.
