Dec. 9 - BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College senior offensive lineman Jason Soltis (Port Vue, Pa./South Allegheny) can add one more award to his impressive collection after he was voted Third Team All-South Region by the national web site

The 6-0, 280-pound senior started all 10 games at right guard for the Bison and helped the program to a 5-5 finish overall and 4-3 mark in the PAC, the best record by BC since 2001. His work up front helped Bethany run for 2,024 yards, second-most by the program in one season. The team ranked second in the PAC in rushing offense and finish third in sacks against with 18. Overall, Soltis graded out at a 94 percent for the year.

Soltis becomes just the second Bethany player to earn All-Region in the last five years, joining tight end Jorge Laboy, who was a Second Team selection in 2008. It’s the second time Soltis has been honored by this season, as the entire Bison offensive line was named to the Team of the Week following their performance in a 31-29 win at King’s Sept. 11 when BC churned out 387 rushing yards.

In addition to those accolades, Soltis was also a First Team All-PAC selection and was named to the South Roster for The DIII Football Senior Classic in Salem, Va.

“This is great for Jason,” said Bethany head coach Tim Weaver. “He’s worked very hard for the last four years and has been a great example of the kind of person we want in our program. He has turned himself into a really good player and we are very excited for him receive all the post season recognition he has gotten. He’s very deserving of all of it.”

A physical education major, Jason is the son of Ed and Diane Soltis of Port Vue, Pa.
