Sept. 13 - WEXFORD, Pa. – Following a career-best performance in the team’s first victory of the season, Bethany College junior Eric Walker (New Brighton, Pa.) was tabbed as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and ECAC South Region Football Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 13.

The 5-10, 220-pound tailback set career-highs with 32 carries for 220 yards, as well as three touchdowns, in the Bison’s 31-29 victory at King’s (Pa.) College Saturday. He scored on a pair of one-yard scoring runs in the opening period and capped his fantastic day by rumbling 48-yards for a third TD that gave BC a 31-23 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The performance was also a record-breaking one for Walker. His 220 yards is the fourth-most by a Bison running back in a game in school history. The rushing touchdowns give him 24 during his short career at Bethany, which surpassed Will Anderson’s career total of 23 rushing TDs for the top spot in school history. Walker now also stands on the cusp of surpassing Anderson’s career total touchdown mark (30), as the current BC back has reached the end zone 29 times in his tenure.

“Eric took over the game Saturday,” said Bethany head coach Tim Weaver. “Even when it was clear that we were going to keep giving him the ball, he still broke tackles and made people miss. It was probably the best performance in a good career so far and we’re happy for him to be recognized by both the PAC and ECAC for his play.”

A communication major, Eric is the son of Lorraine Walker of New Brighton, Pa.
