SEPT. 14 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – After a record-setting week which helped the Bison football team to a 51-16 victory over Thiel College, Bethany senior wide receiver Eric Blinn has been honored as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, announced the PAC on Monday afternoon.
Blinn (Beaver, Pa./Western Beaver) served as the top weapon in an offense that totaled nearly 500 yards of offense against the Tomcats on Saturday evening at Bison Stadium. He tallied 12 catches for 185 yards and three touchdown catches. He also added one rush for a five-yard touchdown, totaling four TDs for the Green & White. Thanks to those numbers, the Bison posted the most points that the program has ever scored against Thiel in nearly three quarters of a century.
Along with his gaudy numbers, Blinn broke two career records in the game. He first broke the PAC’s career receiving yardage record, posting 68 yards in the opening half. With that number, Blinn broke W&J’s Alex Baroffio’s 2014 record. When the dust settled on the day Blinn was sitting at 3,328 yards.
Along with the conference record, Blinn also shattered another Bethany career mark. With his third touchdown catch of the evening, he surpassed Matt Cruse’s career record for receiving touchdowns (26).
A four-year starter for the Green & White, Blinn ranks as one of the most prolific receivers in the country, sitting first among all active receivers in receptions (268), receptions per game (8.12) and receiving yards. He also ranks second in receiving yards per game (100.8) and third in all-purpose yards. He is currently just one of six total players in all of Division III with over 4,000 career all purpose yards.
Blinn and the Bison will be back in action on Saturday, September 19 when they host Westminster at 1:00 p.m.
