BETHANY’S WILCOX EARNS PAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK LAURELS
Nov. 29 - WEXFORD, Pa. – Bethany College sophomore Nick Wilcox (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) was chosen as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 29.
The 6-3 forward led the Bison (3-3) to a pair of wins in three outings last week by averaging 13.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game, while also shooting 60 percent (18-30) from the field. He helped Bethany pull out a 57-54 victory at Muskingum last Tuesday by totaling 12 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Over the weekend, Wilcox helped the Bison take third place at John Carroll University’s John Steadman Classic. In the first round against the host and 18th-ranked Blue Streaks, he turned in a double-double with 14 markers and 10 boards while adding in three steals in a hard-fought 90-85 setback. In the consolation game Sunday, he finished with 13 points, five rebounds and four steals to help BC hold Case Western Reserve scoreless for the final 8:38, as the Bison pulled away for an 81-55 triumph.
An Honorable Mention All-PAC choice after his freshman campaign, Wilcox is off to a strong start again this year. He is posting 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest and is second in the conference with 3.0 steals through his first six games.
“Nick really epitomizes what our program is all about,” said second-year Bethany head coach Andrew Sachs. “He does all the little things that don’t appear on the stat sheet and is really building off a good freshman year.”
A pre-physical therapy major, Nick is the son of Sharon & David Lacey of Venetia, Pa.
