Bison To Host ECAC Southwest Championship Tournament

March 3 – CENTERVILLE, Mass. – For the tenth season in a row, and the fifth consecutive time under head coach Andrew Sachs, the Bison men’s basketball time has earned a bid into postseason play, capturing the #1 overall seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southwest Regional Tournament, announced the ECAC on Monday.

The Bison earned the top seed after posting a 21-5 mark over the course of the season. Bethany will host a pair of semifinal games on Saturday, March 8, with the Green & White taking on the winner of #4 Juniata and #5 Alfred. The two schools will play on Wednesday, March 5, to determine the semifinal pairing. The other contest on Saturday will be between #2 Hood College and #3 Waynesburg University.  

Bethany, who captured their third 20+-win season in the last four years, was led this season by Delonte’ Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis). Joyce posted 16.9 points per game while ranking third in all of Division III in steals per contest during the regular season.

Following the playoff between Juniata and Alfred, the ECAC Semifinals will take place on Saturday. The Bison will take on the winner of Alfred and Juniata at 5:30 with Waynesburg and Hood squaring off in the other semifinal at 7:30. The championship match between the two winners will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m.
