Nov. 9 - WEXFORD, Pa. – With four starters back from the team that captured the 13th conference championship in school history, the Bethany College men’s basketball team was predicted to take second place in the PAC Preseason Poll, released Wednesday by the conference office.

The Bison finished second in a very close race with last year’s tournament runner-up Thiel. The Tomcats scored 10 first place votes and 153 total points to just edge out Bethany with 145 points, including seven first-place votes.

Saint Vincent gathered the final first-place vote and 117 points and was followed by Thomas More (104), Geneva (82), Washington & Jefferson (67), Waynesburg (53), Westminster (50) and Grove City (40).

“We expected to be towards the top with four returning starters,” said third-year Bethany head coach Andrew Sachs. “The league will be good from top to bottom and there are no guarantees. But our goal is to be playing our best basketball at the end of February so we get the chance to play in March.”

Bethany’s season tips off Nov. 15 with a road game at Allegheny and the home slate begins Nov. 18 with a non-conference tilt against Baldwin-Wallace. The PAC chase starts Nov. 30 when the Bison journey to Grove City.
